𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫:

1) The need for change doesn't change.

2) We're changed by obedience to God's Word.

3) When change is necessary, God's word is designed to agitate and lead us to repentance.

𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 - occurs upon repentance & surrender to God and is a product of what Jesus has done.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 - continual process of being transformed into the image of Christ that occurs throughout our lives.

𝐔𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 - Complete transformation and freedom from the power of sin that occurs at the death of a Christian.

Philippians 3:10-16

New International Version

10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,

11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.

12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,

14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

15 All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.

16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

John 17:15-17

2 Corinthians 7:10-11

10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 11 See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done. At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

Psalm 51:16-17
